ISLAMABAD: PTI MNA Brigadier (retd) Aslam Ghumman on Monday denied outright having been asked to leave the parliamentary party meeting at the Parliament House.
“I offer prayers and that was why I came out of the meeting for Asr prayers, which was portrayed as if I was shown the door from the forum,” Ghumman said when The News approached him on his cell phone.
He has been issued a show cause notice, to which he has replied, in relation to the 26th constitutional amendment. The PTI-backed Ghumman, who was elected from NA-75, Sialkot-V in February 8 elections, reportedly, was asked to leave the meeting, for he was first to reply to the show-cause notice, which would be then looked into by the relevant committee.
He regretted that without seeking his comment, an incorrect report was made viral on the media. He has served as DG anti-corruption Punjab for five years and also worked as head NAB Peshawar.
The PTI lawmaker explained that he also had read out his reply to the show cause notice before the party leadership besides sending it to the party chairman, secretary general of the party, additional secretary general and Leader of the Opposition Omar Ayub.
Ghumman said that after offering prayers, he had joined the parliamentary party meeting. He denied having had anything to do with the 26th constitutional amendment and claimed to have not even gone near to the premises of the Parliament House from October 18 to 21.
Meanwhile, Omar Ayub, who was flanked by Asad Qaiser, also rejected reports that Ghumman, who was present on the occasion, was asked not to sit in the parliamentary party meeting and noted that he had submitted his reply to the notice, which will be deliberated upon by the concerned committee and its report will be submitted to the PTI founder.
