Islamabad:A gang of armed robbers attempted brazen daylight heists on two separate cash vans in Islamabad on Monday, leaving six security guards injured during fierce encounters with the robbers. The incidents occurred in the jurisdictions of Industrial and Tarnol police stations around 9:50 a.m.

The first attack took place outside a private bank in Sector G-9/3 within the Industrial Area police’s jurisdiction. As the cash van stopped, two security guards exited the vehicle carrying cash bags and entered the bank. Witnesses reported that a young man appeared and opened fire, injuring one guard, though the security team managed to protect the cash. Approximately 40 minutes later, a second attack unfolded outside a commercial bank in G-15 Markaz, about 10 kilometres from the first incident. According to Tarnol police, who were alerted by the Safe City system, robbers launched a similar assault on another cash van as it was parked near the bank entrance. In this attack, five guards sustained injuries, including Nauman Arshad, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Ramzan, and Mudassar Raza.

Despite the intense confrontation, the vigilant guards and quick action of the cash van driver managed to prevent cash from being stolen. Witnesses described, the robbers chasing the van and firing shots as it sped away. While the police have not yet lodged a formal First Information Report (FIR), investigations are underway to track down the gang responsible for these coordinated attacks.
