Sales tax on petroleum slashed

KARACHI: The government has reduced sales tax rates on petroleum products to keep their prices for the end consumer unchanged in June, a notification said on Wednesday.
The rate of sales tax on high speed diesel was cut to Rs18.47/litre from Rs25.16/litre earlier. Sales tax of Rs5.58/litre will be applicable on kerosene as compared to Rs3.60/litre previously.
The government slashed the sales tax on motor spirit to Rs9.36/litre from Rs9.89/litre, HOBC (to Rs10.58 from Rs10.65) and light diesel oil (to Rs1.86/litre from Rs3.38/litre).
