4-tonne rotten meat, fish discarded
LAHORE:The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) recovered over 4-tonne rotten meat and fish in a raid here on Monday morning.
Food Authority DG Asim Javed checked breakfast points in Tollinton Market, Fish Market, Mughalpura, Lakshmi Chowk in early morning during which quality of 60,000-kg of meat was inspected in detail out of which 4 tons of smelly and rotten meat and fish were destroyed and fines worth Rs430,000 were imposed. Over 73 meat and fish shops, transport vehicles and 24 breakfast points were checked. In this context, the DG said dirty freezers, smelly standing water and poor sanitation arrangements were found. Smelly expired meat was found in broken and dirty freezers. He said 24 fish and meat points have been issued corrective notices for improvement, besides checking the chicken in Market.
