MANSEHRA: Representatives of local governments in Sari Gorya, Oghi Tehsil have demanded the government fill out vacant teaching positions at the only higher secondary school in the area, which serves both male and female students.

“Students are forced to study under miserable conditions in just three rooms, while the construction of the remaining school building has been stalled for years,” Alam Zeb, a village councilor, told reporters.

Flanked by a group of locals, he said the Government Higher Secondary School in Sari Gorya operated without adequate resources, as 24 out of 34 teaching positions had remained vacant for years.“This school functions with only three rooms, and the remaining building is yet to be built,” Alam Zeb said.

He pointed out that the government had previously awarded a contract to a firm to construct the school building to better accommodate students; however, the firm abandoned the work about two years ago. “We have raised this issue multiple times with local lawmakers and officials in the education department, but nothing has been done,” he lamented.
