ISLAMABAD: The Excise and Taxation Department has decided to crack down on habitual tax defaulter owners of two kanal and larger luxury houses in the Rawalpindi Division, including cantonment areas.
The tax was levied under the Punjab Finance Act, 2014. This is one-time tax and is on minimum two kanals and 6,000 square feet of construction. The tax is on the houses built after 2000.
According to Director Excise and Taxation, Rawalpindi Division, Imran Aslam, 95 percent owners of luxury houses in Rawalpindi Division have already paid the tax. He warned strict action will be taken against 5pc owners not ready to pay the tax.
There are some 175 luxury houses in the Rawalpindi Division which have to pay the luxury tax. Lists of such defaulters have been prepared. The owners of these luxury houses are refusing to provide details to the department.
