BNP workers protest registration of cases against party leaders
Participants of rally marched on various roads and streets chanting anti-government slogans
QUETTA: The workers and supporters, Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) took out protest rallies in different towns and cities of the province, including provincial capital Quetta, on Sunday to protest against registering of cases against party leaders, including Sardar Akhtar Mengal and arrest of former MPAs.
The party workers and leaders, including women gathered in front of Quetta Press Club carrying placards and banners inscribed with the demands about quashing FIRs against the party leaders. The participants of the rally marched on various roads and streets chanting anti-government slogans.
Later, the protesting leaders and workers returned back to Quetta Press Club where party leaders addressed the participants. The Deputy Secretary General of BNP-Mengal, Malik Naseer Ahmed Shahwani while speaking strongly condemned the federal government for involving BNP leaders in fake cases and arrest of the former MPA Akhtar Hussian Langove and Shafi Muhammad Mengal and others.
“Our party is custodian of shahuada, who never afraid of registration of cases and arrests and despite atrocities of the government never compromise on its principles and struggle for the rights of the people and democracy,” Malik said, adding that the government could only impose bans on the parliaments but could not purchase the conscience of the party’s leadership and parliamentarian.
Party’s former MPA and secretary of women wing Shakilla Naveed Dehwar, Ahmed Nawaz Baloch, Musa Baloch. Ghulam Nabi Marri, Mir Maqbool Lehri and others were present on the occasion who also addressed the protestors.
They said that the 26th constitutional amendment was passed in the parliament under the threats and pressuring the members through establishment and diffident institutions. They said that the cases were registered against Sardar Akhtar Mengal and other party leaders under an anti-terrorist act. They announced that party workers, leaders and supporters were protesting across the province.
They said that shutter town strike will be observed on October 30 across the province.The protest rallies were also took out by the party leaders and Supporters in Gwadar, Khuzdar, Noshki, Kalat, Mastung,Surab, Wadh, Kharan, Turbat, Panjgur, Dera Murad Jamali and othertowns and cities of the province.
In Gwadar a big rally was taken out which after marching on the main roads of the Port city staged in front of Gwadar Pres Club and condemned Islamabad for registering cases against Sardar Akhtar Mengal and other party leaders.
District President of BNP-M Gwadar, Majid Sohrabi, Aman Jumma, NASIR Musa and other party leaders spoke on the occasion and said that the party will not surrender and would continue its struggle for the upholding of the constitution and supremacy of the parliament.
They said the methods adopted by the government for passing the constructional amendment were not according to the status of the government.They demanded withdrawal of cases immediately and immediate release of arrested party leaders.
