Black Day observed in KP against Indian occupation of Kashmir

PESHAWAR: Ceremonies were arranged in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday to condemn the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and express solidarity with the Kashmiris.

Walks and rallies were staged and events organized to condemn the Indian atrocities on the innocent people in occupied Kashmir since October 27, 1947, when the Indian troops raided the Kashmir valley and brought the land under occupation.

Rallies were staged in the provincial metropolis. The participants of the events chanted slogans against India for atrocities against the Kashmiris and called on the international community to take steps to stop the ongoing oppression of Kashmiris.

Upper DIR: Deputy Commissioner of Upper Dir Naveed Akbar led a rally to mark “Kashmir Black Day” and express solidarity with Kashmiris.

Additional DC Finance & Planning, Omar bin Riaz, Tehsildar Dir, officials from all departments, citizens, and civil society were also present.

The national anthem was played, followed by a minute of silence. Participants formed a human chain and walked from the DC Office to Paraw Pul, raising slogans in support of Pakistan and Kashmir.

The deputy commissioner said: “October 27 is observed as Black Day to highlight Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom, expose Indian atrocities, and urge the international community to resolve the Kashmir issue according to UN resolutions”. He said the international community must play a role in resolving the Kashmir issue.

MARDAN: The main event was held at KP House. Administrative officers, youth and students from different schools participated in the event. Assistant Commissioner of Mardan, Kamran Khan, AC of Takhtbai Junaid Khalid, AACs Fazlur Rehman, Natasha Sumbal, Shaughta Sarwar and Nauman Parvez besides District Education Officer Muhammad Zahid and others participated in the event. The speakers condemned the Indian oppression in Kashmir and reiterated their commitment to full diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiris.

Events were arranged as well in Nowshera, Swabi, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, and Bajaur, and in other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to show support for Kashmiris.

Meanwhile, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned Indian military brutalities in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and paid tribute to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their freedom.

He lauded the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination. The governor said: “For 77 years, India has attempted to suppress the aspirations of the Kashmiri population through illegal actions, with its occupying forces continuing to commit atrocities against them.

He said: “India’’s actions have deprived Kashmiris of their fundamental democratic rights, violating United Nations resolutions”.

The governor paid tribute to the courage and bravery of the Kashmiri people, saying, “Their sacrifices and struggle for self-determination would be remembered as a golden chapter in history.

Kundi condemned India’s oppressive measures, particularly since August 5, 2019, describing them as attempts to deprive Kashmiris of their rights.

Despite these harsh actions, he asserted, the desire for freedom and self-determination among the Kashmiri people remained strong and was growing stronger with each passing day.

He urged the global community and the United Nations to ensure the implementation of resolutions related to the Kashmir dispute, as a means to establish lasting peace in South Asia.

Kundi reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for its Kashmiri brothers and sisters, promising to strengthen moral, diplomatic, and political cooperation.

KHAR: The Kashmir Solidarity Day was also commemorated in Bajaur tribal district.

The main event was held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali Khan at the Jirga Hall in Civil Colony, Khar.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ali Raza, Assistant Commissioner Khar Dr Sadiq Ali, chairman of sub-divisions Khar and Nawagai, heads of all departments, elders, religious scholars, youths, and students from various educational institutions attended the event with great enthusiasm.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers strongly condemned the Indian oppression in occupied Kashmir and reiterated their commitment to moral and social support for the Kashmiri brothers. At the end of the event, participants took out a rally from the Jirga Hall in the Civil Colony to the Colony Main Chowk, waving Pakistani and Kashmiri flags and black flags.
