Two killed, 34 injured as bus falls into ravine in Kohistan
MANSEHRA: Two people were killed and 36 others sustained critical injuries when a Rawalpindi-bound passenger coach fell into a ravine in the Harban Das area of Lower Kohistan on Sunday evening.
“We have shifted the injured to a nearby health facility from the accident
site, and two of them were declared dead by the doctors,” said Masood
Khan, the deputy superintendent of police in Upper Kohistan.
The coach carrying 41 passengers and crew members was heading to Rawalpindi from Gilgit when the driver lost control of the steering while negotiating a sharp turn near the Harban Das area.
This caused the vehicle to skid off the Karakoram Highway and plunge into a ravine.
Police personnel from the Sazin Police Station rushed to the scene, retrieving the injured from the ravine and transferring them to a nearby health
facility.
The doctors at the facility pronounced Saddaqat Hussain from Gilgit-Baltistan and Mohammad Nadeem from Punjab
dead.
The injured were later referred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dasu and other nearby health facilities for further treatment after initial medical care.
