PESHAWAR: Goods worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a factory in the Industrial Estate Hayatabad on Saturday.
Officials of the Rescue 1122 said over 60 firefighters and 20 fire trucks made efforts for around 7 hours to put out the fire that had engulfed the entire building of a tissue paper and disposable bags factory. They were still trying hard to extinguish the flames till the filing of the report.
The fire was so huge that some of the firefighters fell unconscious due to heavy smoke.
The officials said teams form Charsadda, Mardan, Khyber and other districts had to be called to assist the local firefighters in putting out the inferno as nearby was a match factory and any flame there could be disastrous. The flames of the fire could be seen from most parts of the provincial capital.
Officials said they were assessing the worth of goods gutted in the fire. No casualty was reported in the incident.
