PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Saturday in its writer order gave time to the advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit a response in a petition filed against the deteriorating security situation and increasing incidents of terrorism in the province till October 30.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council had filed a writ petition in the PHC in which the petitioner had said that incidents of terrorism were occurring in various districts of the province. It said that due to the poor security situation in some areas, courts had also been shifted to other cities.
This situation have also created challenges for judicial officers, lawyers and other stakeholders.
A bench of the PHC comprising Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Wiqar Ahmad issued a brief order regarding the hearing.
It stated that during the hearing, representatives from both the provincial and federal governments, including the advocate general, and the federal government appeared.
The AG requested additional time to submit a response. The court granted this request and directed the provincial government to submit a response within four days. The next hearing for the case was fixed October 30.
