Islamabad : The Islamabad Police paid a solemn tribute on Saturday to Sub Inspector Haider Ali Shah, a courageous officer who was martyred in the line of duty. His funeral, held with full honours at the Police Lines Headquarters in Islamabad, gathered a community in mourning and remembrance.
Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, senior officers from the Islamabad and Punjab Police, the Frontier Constabulary, and other law enforcement officials stood alongside Shah's family and colleagues to honour his sacrifice. With heartfelt respect, those present offered prayers and condolences, reflecting the deep loss felt throughout the force.
Sub Inspector Shah succumbed to fatal injuries after being attacked by unidentified assailants, giving his life while protecting his community. Known for his dedication, Shah began his career as a constable with the Islamabad Police in 1990, serving across multiple departments before recently joining the investigation unit. His resilience and commitment to duty had earned him the respect of both his peers and the public.
IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi spoke of Shah's bravery, calling his ultimate sacrifice a testament to the Islamabad Police's steadfast dedication to protecting the community. “Our force remains resolute against any threat, inspired by the legacy of martyrs like Haider Ali Shah,” he remarked.
After the funeral rites, senior officers and colleagues laid floral wreaths on Shah’s coffin as a ceremonial squad offered a final salute. Shah’s body was then transported to his hometown, where he was laid to rest with full official honours, a symbol of the nation’s lasting gratitude.
Haider Ali Shah is now among the 64 Islamabad Police officers who have laid down their lives in service. IGP Rizvi emphasized that the bravery of officers like Shah continues to inspire the force, underscoring law enforcement's unyielding commitment to protect and serve, regardless of the risks.
