LAHORE: Invincibles and Conquerors emerged victorious in the seventh round of the National Women’s U19 T20 Tournament at the LCCA Ground, Lahore, on Saturday.
Invincibles defeated Challengers by seven wickets, while Conquerors maintained their winning streak with a commanding 98-run victory over Stars.
In the first match, Challengers, invited to bat by Invincibles, managed to score 79-4 in 20 overs. Their innings was bolstered by a 45-run fifth-wicket stand between Malaika Suhani, who remained unbeaten on 21 off 31 balls (two fours), and Nasreen Ashraf, who scored 19 off 29 balls (three fours). Afsheen Imran led Invincibles’ bowling effort with two wickets, while Syeda Batool Fatima took one.
Chasing the 80-run target, Invincibles reached 83-3 in 17.4 overs, thanks to a crucial 49-run partnership between Wasifa Hussain (32 off 62 balls) and Dina Razvi (23 not out off 34 balls, two fours).
In the second game, Conquerors delivered a dominant display against Stars. Opting to bat, Conquerors posted 148-2 in 20 overs. Samiya Afsar struck 43 runs off 42 balls (six fours), while Ravail Farhan (43 not out off 42 balls, five fours) and Areesha Ansari (35 not out off 29 balls, five fours) combined for a strong 77-run third-wicket stand. Stars’ captain, Memoona Khalid, was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-25.
Stars were bowled out for just 50 runs in 16.4 overs. Only Fizza Fayyaz (11 off 8 balls, two fours) and Fariha Fahim Taimoor (10 off 17 balls, one four) reached double figures. Conquerors’ Laiba Nasir led the bowling attack with 3-10, while Maheen Irfan and Fatima Khan claimed two wickets each.
