ISLAMABAD: Expressing disappointment over the decision to ban foreign study tours of officers of National Management Course (NMC), Rector National School of Public Policy Lahore has suggested review of this decision.
Rector Dr Ejaz Munir expressed the regret in a letter to Secretary Establishment Division Inamullah Dharejo. The letter said ban on foreign study tours has closed off one avenue of acquiring knowledge.
“This is a four-decade-old tradition. As a result, officers know the best practices from around the world”, the letter said. There is hardly any logic behind this administrative decision, it added. The Rector said this news did not prove good for the participants who completed the NMC diligently. He said he has the responsibility to design comprehensive programme to enable the officers to get higher positions. “Suddenly removing such an important activity in the middle of the programme affects the programme”, he observed. He said the programme recently faced scrutiny which agonised the participants.
