Belgian envoy lauds Punjab govt’s policies

They discussed avenues of mutual cooperation and promotion of bilateral ties between Belgium and Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had a meeting Ambassador of Belgium to Pakistan Charles Idesbald van der Gracht de Rommerswael on Friday.

They discussed various avenues of mutual cooperation and promotion of bilateral ties between Belgium and Punjab. She added, ”Pakistan and Belgium value their bilateral relations a lot.” Chief Minister said, ”Youth are being trained in world class IT skills.” She added, ”Special attention is being given to the mechanization of agricultural sector in Punjab.”

The ambassador praised the CM’s people-friendly policies, and economic vision of her government. He said, ”Punjab government’s measures to control effects of climate change and improve environment are impressive.” He added, ”Environment-friendly innovative initiatives in Punjab will have far-reaching results.”

Ambassador of Belgium said, ”Belgium is interested in increasing investment and cooperation in various sectors in Pakistan.” He added,”We can benefit from each other’s experiences in education, agriculture and other fieldsThe chief minister also met MPAs Munawwar Hussain from Sargodha and Muhammad Faiz from Sialkot here on Friday.

The chief minister instructed them to monitor development projects and the Chief Minister’s initiatives actively. She also directed them to monitor price fluctuations in bread, flour, and other essential commodities.

The chief minister said, “Punjab is the only province where bread and flour are available at the lowest prices. The efforts of our political and administrative team to reduce and stabilise these prices are commendable. The Punjab government aims to set a historic standard in public service.”

She said, “For the first time in Pakistan’s history, we are establishing a formal price control system, along with a separate department dedicated to this purpose. Addressing the economic hardships caused by inflation is a top priority for us.”The MPAs briefed the chief minister on the issues facing their constituencies and highlighted public needs. They expressed appreciation for CM Maryam Nawaz’s public welfare projects and commended the significant initiatives taken to support farmers.

Meanwhile, PMLN MPA Sania Ashiq Jabeen has been appointed as a special assistant for the special education department. She became the youngest member of the Punjab Assembly after the 2018 general elections and has been working with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for almost a decade. Sania Ashiq has obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Punjab.
