A meeting chaired by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi was held at the Deputy Commissioner Korangi’s office on Friday.

The agenda focused on reviewing efforts to control government-fixed prices of essential commodities, address encroachments and illegal parking creating traffic bottlenecks, and resolve various civic issues. Deputy Commissioner Korangi Masood Bhutto and all assistant commissioners from the district attended, while deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners from other districts participated via video link.

The meeting concluded that officials negligent in removing encroachments would be held accountable. The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners to enhance the effectiveness of the anti-encroachment campaign. All assistant commissioners provided updates on measures taken to address civic issues in their areas, detailing visits to schools, health units, and development projects.

It was decided that assistant commissioners would prepare comprehensive reports on issues in schools and health facilities. Based on these findings, proposals to improve educational and health services would be drafted for submission to the education and health departments of the Sindh government.

The meeting also assigned the responsibility for preventing re-encroachment to the field staff of relevant departments. Deputy commissioners were tasked with identifying areas where encroachments frequently recur, with disciplinary action promised for any staff or officers found negligent or involved in such practices.
