PARACHINAR: Another patient on Friday died at a hospital here as he could not be transported to Peshawar due to the closure of the roads in Kurram.

Dr Mir Hassan Jan, Medical Superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital, Parachinar, said he was the third patient, who could not be taken to Peshawar due to the closure of the Peshawar-Parachinar Road and died subsequently.

He said the hospital lacked oxygen due to which the patients were facing problems.

The Peshawar-Parachinar Road has been closed for the last 14 days due to the recent clashes. This has created a host of problems for the local population. The road was closed to traffic after the recent firing incidents that had claimed several lives. Many passengers were killed in the firing incidents.

Former federal minister Sajid Turi said the road closures had created a shortage of food, medicines and fuel in Parachinar.

Meanwhile, the members of a jirga had reached Parachinar to hold talks for the restoration of peace in the Kurram tribal district. Officials said that the elders were holding talks to end the bloodshed and help restore peace in the troubled district.
