Literary festival begins at BKMC

MARDAN: A two-day literary festival got underway at the Auditorium of Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) here on Friday.

Organized by the Literary Society of BKMC and Bacha Khan College of Dentistry (BKCD), the festival drew a large audience including faculty, students, and notable figures from the literary community.

Dean and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) BKMC/Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) Professor Dr. Amjad Ali, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the festival by cutting the ribbon.

Other guests present included Hospital Director Dr Gulzar Ahmed Khan, Medical Director Professor Dr Muhammad Said, Finance Director Muhammad Shiraz, BKCD Principal Professor Dr Munir Khan, Chairman, Literary Society of BKMC/BKCD Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem, Chairman of the Event Organizing Committee Prof Dr Tariq, Associate Dean BKMC Professor Dr Mohtasim Billah, Professor Dr. Muhammad Fazil, Prof Dr Rehman Uddin, Associate Prof Dr Raham Zaman, Manager Administration Dr Farhad Akram, etc.

Literary figures Dr. Jahanzeb Shaoor and Dr Syed Zubair Shah were specially invited to the festival.

The first day focused on highlighting the importance of Urdu and English literature.

Professor Dr. Amjad Ali appreciated the efforts of the Literary and organizing committee for organizing the festival.

He said that BKMC promoted literature through such events by providing a platform for students and faculty to engage in creative expression and activities.

Later, a series of artistic performances captivated the audience. Students performed a Sufi dance and presented the timeless love story of Laila and Majnu through a tableau, which received applause from the audience.

Dr Jahanzeb Shaoor and Dr Syed Zubair Shah recited poems and received admiration from the audience.

The two-day festival included speech competitions, literary essays, and a Qawwali night, Pashto Language, literature and Pashto Culture night.
