Century result of hard work: Saud
RAWALPINDI: Saud Shakeel has dedicated his responsible century to the hard work he put in during nets practice and the efforts he made to prepare for each series.
Talking to the media following his fourth Test hundred, Saud said he dedicated his century to himself.
“It is a result of hard work I put in during nets practice where I keep an eye on the opponents. I try to train and prepare myself. It is a result of my patience and resilience.”
Saud was excited to hit a century at a crucial time. “Scoring a century in international cricket always gives you extra delight. Same was the case when I scored century here.”
Saud added there was no alternate to consistency in international cricket.
“If you want to stay in international cricket for a longer period, you have to be consistent in your game. That is what I have been trying since long and I am happy that I have succeeded in that.”
The batsmen said his approach was solid against spinners and I love to sweep most of the time.
“Here I did not get many opportunities to sweep the ball more because nature of the wicket but I don’t like playing against spinners. I have been very successful against them but it is against pace bowlers that I love to play.”
Saud lauded Noman Ali and Sajid Khan.
“I know Noman well and our partnership also went well. Though I hardly played with Sajid he was well aware of what was required. In the company of Noman, we planned how to steal the next ten runs to get closer to England’s total and we succeeded at the end.”
