The gruesome Orangi Town incident, in which a minor boy was killed, and his mother and minor sister were injured on Wednesday, has taken a new turn.

The injured woman has claimed that the perpetrator was her husband’s cousin, who had attempted to sexually assault her. She said that when she resisted, the man attacked her and her children, then fled.

FIR No. 577/24 was registered under sections 302, 324, 376 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Shahrukh, husband of the injured woman, Ramsha, 30. Shahrukh named his cousin Sameer as the suspect. Police said they expect to arrest him soon.

Shahrukh, a welder, said he left for work at 9am on Wednesday. His brother Aneel and his wife had also left for work. He later received a phone call informing him that someone had slit the throats of his wife and children, and they had been shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

When he arrived home, his wife and daughter Aleeza were being transferred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), while his son Subhan had died during treatment at the hospital.

Shahrukh said that when he reached the JPMC, his wife told him that she was at home with the children when Sameer arrived. She offered him tea and breakfast, but Sameer attempted to sexually assault her.

When Ramsha and the children tried to stop him, Sameer picked up an iron and repeatedly attacked her face, head and neck. As a result of the attack, the woman and both her children were severely injured.
