Another 108 test positive for dengue from Pindi in a day

Rawalpindi:In the last 24 hours, another 108 patients have tested positive for dengue fever from Rawalpindi district taking the total number of confirmed dengue fever patients so far registered this year from the district to 3,840.

However, data collected by ‘The News’ on Thursday has revealed that the number of patients being tested positive for the infection from the district has been showing a little decline for the last one week. In the last seven days, a total of 660 patients belonging to Rawalpindi district have been confirmed positive for dengue fever recording an average of around 94 cases per day. It is important to mention that the average number of patients being tested positive per day from the district in the previous week was 113. Data reveals that in the last one week, the infection claimed two lives from the region including one from Rawalpindi and one from Murree. To date, a total of eight confirmed dengue fever patients have died of dengue fever from Rawalpindi including one from Murree.

On Thursday morning, as many as 221 dengue fever patients belonging to the district were undergoing treatment at the teaching hospitals in town including 66 at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 35 at Holy Family Hospital, 48 at Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital and 34 at Fauji Foundation Hospital. On the other hand, well over 2,600 patients have so far been confirmed positive for dengue fever from Islamabad Capital Territory though the infection has claimed no life from ICT so far. It is also important that the average number of patients being tested positive per day from the federal capital has been around 60 in the last two weeks.
