16 die on road in 24 hours
LAHORE:The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,467 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these accidents, 16 people died, whereas 1,638 were injured. Out of these, 739 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 899 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
283,153 underage drivers ticketed
Traffic police issued 283,153 tickets to underage drivers across the province in ten months. The traffic police impounded more than 80,000 motorcycles and got undertakings from more than 53,000 parents that they will not allow their underage children to drive.
Four drug dealers arrested
Police Thursday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered hashish and charas from their possession. Barki police arrested accused Ghulam Rasool and Sajid and recovered 4kg hashish from them. Lorri Adda police detained accused Abdul Malik and Shahid and recovered 10kg charas from their possession.
2 held over organising animals’ fight
Lahore Traffic Police’s Animal Rescue Centre arrested two people for organising a bull fight. The Animal Rescue Centre’s officials raided Gawala Colony and arrested bull fighting event organisers Abdul Jabbar and Hussnain Haider and confiscated buffaloes arranged for the fight. Kot Lakhpat police booked the accused.
