Punjab govt to support pediatric transplant

LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique attended the opening session of the three-day third International Pediatric Urology Congress at the University of Child Health Sciences as a special guest.

The congress organised by the Pakistan Society of Pediatric Urology will continue till tomorrow (Saturday). Professionals from Saudi Arabia, China, United Arab Emirates, Iran, America, UK, London and other countries are participating in the Congress.

On this occasion, University of Child Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Prof Masood Sadiq, Children's Hospital MD Prof Tipu Sultan, Prof Ayaz Khan, Prof Nabila, Executive Director Jinnah Burn Centre Prof Yawar Sajjad and many others participated.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that Children's Hospital Lahore is the second largest hospital for children in the world and the first in South Asia. The Punjab government will provide all possible support for pediatric transplantation. He said that according to the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, we are trying to provide better health facilities to the people. The minister congratulated the University of Child Health Sciences for organising the Congress. He also presented commemorative shields to the professionals from different countries. Vice-Chancellor Prof Masood Sadiq said the best medical facilities are being provided to children in Children's Hospital Lahore.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Steering/Advisory Committee on Cardiovascular Diseases was held in IDAP under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mehmood attended the meeting. The members of the steering committee took important decisions on various agendas. During the meeting, a detailed review of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology, Sargodha was taken.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said that a thorough discussion was also held about Punjab Institute of Cardiology. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz wants to improve the capacity of cardiology hospitals across the province. We will make Chief Minister cardiac programme of Punjab successful. Best results of the Chief Minister's Children's Heart Surgery Programme are being achieved. Special Secretaries Tariq Mehmood and Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Additional Secretary Development Dr Wahid Asghar and other officers also participated in the meeting.
