KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has officially commenced production from its exploratory well Baloch-2, located in the Sembar formation within the Sanghar district of Sindh.

This milestone follows the earlier announcement of a gas condensate discovery at the site on August 30, 2024.The Baloch-2 well, situated in the Sinjhoro block, is currently producing an impressive 350 barrels per day (BPD) of oil and 5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas.

The production is connected to the Sinjhoro Processing Plant, with the gas being supplied to the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network, thereby directly contributing to the country’s energy supply.

The successful delineation, drilling, and testing of the Baloch-2 well can be attributed to OGDCL’s in-house expertise. This project represents a collaborative effort involving OGDCL (holding a 76 per cent working interest), Orient Petroleum Inc (with a 19 per cent

working interest), and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) (holding a 5.0 per cent working interest).

OGDCL remains committed to promoting energy self-sufficiency in Pakistan, focusing on accelerating exploration, drilling, and production activities to enhance national energy security. The company aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the country through these efforts.
