Man kills father for property

BAHAWALPUR: A man allegedly killed his father by administering him poison in a bid to extort property.
Ahsan-ul-Haq poisoned his father Muhammad Bashir in Shaili Gharbi near Chishtian on Tuesday. Four daughters of the deceased informed the Shehr Fareed police about the incident and they shifted the body to THQ Hospital, Chishtian for postmortem.
Protest against outages, inflated bills

BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of residents of Model Town B, Kausar Colony, Railway Road and other localities Tuesday staged a protest demonstration at Chowk Seraiki against unscheduled loadshedding and inflated bills.
The demonstrators raised slogans against Mepco, Bahawalpur circle and burnt their electricity bills and demanded immediate action against the local Mepco officials.
Many protesters alleged that corrupt meter readers send them inflated bills to cover their corruption.
SALES TAX RECOVERED: Under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Income Tax Zeeshan Nazir Khan, Rs 5,000,000 has been recovered on account of sales tax from different housing societies and restaurants in Bahawalpur division.
Under the direction of Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority Rahil Ahmad Siddiqui, a vigorous, vibrant and sustained campaign to check the record of various restaurants and housing societies has been launched in Bahawalpur division.
To pursue the drive, relevant documents pertaining to sales and other taxes were checked and several restaurants and housing societies were sealed on charges of regulations violation but later were de-sealed when their outstanding dues were cleared and were allowed to resume their business activities.
Additional Commissioner Zeeshan said the Punjab Revenue Authority was committed promoting tax culture by mobilizing all available resources which would lead to stable and solid tax base in the province.
