Four days after the butchery at a Lyari flat, another family was found with slit throats at their house in Orangi Town on Wednesday. The victims this time were a woman, and her minor son and daughter. The son died shortly after the incident, while doctors are trying to save the others.

In the Lyari incident, a man had brutally murdered his mother, sister, sister-in-law and niece by slitting their throats this past Saturday. The suspect, Bilal, was later arrested, and he admitted to committing the murders. These consecutive horrifying incidents have shocked the city, raising concerns about safety and the growing trend of domestic violence.

Following the discovery of the Orangi Town victims on Wednesday afternoon, the casualties were taken to a hospital in critical condition, but the boy succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Subhan, 7, while doctors are trying to save the lives of his sister Aleeza, 5, and their mother Rimsha Shahrukh, 35.

Police said the victims were attacked with a sharp weapon, adding that there were wounds along their throats as well as on various parts of their bodies.

The locals said they heard noises coming from the house at around 1:30pm. When the neighbours gathered and entered the house, they found the woman and her children covered in blood.

They immediately called for ambulances and informed the police, following which the victims were rushed to the hospital, where the boy succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing someone leave the house on a motorbike. Police are trying to get the CCTV camera footage of the surrounding area to identify the suspect.

Neighbours mentioned that the injured woman’s husband, Shahrukh, who is a welder, was not present when the incident occurred. Police are investigating from multiple angles, trying to determine if the attack was motivated by personal enmity from an outsider or if a family member was involved. Since the investigation is still in the preliminary stage, the police have not made any conclusive statements. Further investigations are under way, and no case had been registered by the time this report was filed.

According to the spokesperson for the District West police, preliminary information suggests that the incident is a result of personal enmity, with close relatives being implicated. The affected family has provided the police with crucial information, and it is reported that the suspect himself had informed the authorities about the incident via phone.

District West police chief SSP Tariq Elahi Mastoi has formed a team headed by the Orangi Town DSP for the suspect’s arrest.
