PESHAWAR: Member National Assembly (MNA) from Bajaur Mubarak Zeb on Wednesday defended voting for the 26th Constitutional Amendment and said he was not elected on the ticket of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Talking to Geo News, Mubarak Zeb explained that his decision to vote for the amendment was influenced by the “poor treatment” his late brother, Rehan Zeb, received from PTI.Rehan Zeb, a PTI worker, was killed earlier this year.

Mubarak Zeb believed that his vote for the amendment would bring peace to his brother’s soul. “The PTI did not treat my brother well, and supporting this amendment was a way to honour him,” said Mubarak Zeb.

The MNA said the federal government had promised to release funds for the development of his native Bajaur tribal region, adding that he had requested to be made an adviser to the government. He said he had discussed the arrest of his brother’s killers with the federal government authorities.

The MNA maintained that he was not elected on a PTI ticket, but as an independent candidate. He criticized PTI for excluding him from the party’s parliamentary WhatsApp group and treating him poorly

Mubarak Zeb expressed his frustration over the lack of support from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government and said the chief minister had not provided any funds to Bajaur.“I am not affiliated with PTI nor have I joined any other political party,” Mubarak Zeb clarified, distancing himself from the ruling party. It is worth mentioning that Mubarak Zeb’s brother, Rehan Zeb, a PTI candidate, was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Bajaur before the general election.Mubarak Zeb won the NA-8 Bajaur seat as an independent candidate after the killing of his brother.
