Korea keen to bolster ties with Pakistan: envoy

Islamabad:Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Park Kijun has expressed his country’s aspiration to deepen its relations with Pakistan.

“With a wealth of experience and technological advancement, we’re ready to support and partake in Pakistan's endeavours to take the bilateral friendship to the next level but it is not possible without the support of the Pakistani government,” Mr Kijun said during an event held at his residence here to celebrate his country’s National Foundation Day and 76th Armed Forces Day.

The ambassador said that he was optimistic about the future of Korea-Pakistan relations and hoped that the two nations would continue to strengthen their ties through culture, art, literature and music. He also said that the Korean embassy was celebrating the 2024 K-Week in Islamabad, including 2024 Korea-Pakistan Cultural Gala, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, at the Liaquat Gymnasium, the Korea-Pakistan Movie Day and the 17th Korean Ambassador Senior National Cadet National Taekwondo Championship.

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada joined the event as the chief guest. Noted among participants were Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, and other parliamentarians. Diplomats, bureaucrats, military officers, businesspersons, and people from other walks of life also showed up at the event.
