LAHORE:According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, some 54,707 drug peddlers were arrested and 48,684 booked in 88,192 raids across the province this year.
The police recovered 29,764 kg charas, 837 kg heroin, 1,348 kg opium, 365 kg ice, and over 800,000 litre liquor from the accused. The police detained 8,362 drug peddlers in Lahore and seized 6,101 kg charas, 251 kg heroin, 304 kg opium, 148 kg ice, and 56,525 litre liquor from them.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar ordered intensifying operations against drug peddlers. The Inspector General of Police called for daily search and combing operations around educational institutions and hostels to ensure eradications of drugs.
