LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Law Sohaib Ahmad Bherth has said that the Punjab government has been taking serious steps for solving the problems of the lawyers community and Bar Associations across Punjab as the provincial government has started meetings with all the bar associations of the province.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Lahore Bar Association headed by President Lahore Bar Munir Hussain Bhatti. General Secretary Lahore Bar Association Rana Naeem Tahir, Secretary Lahore Bar Rao Tehseen Sharif, Vice Presidents Lahore Bar Nisar Akbar Bhatti and Rana Imran Sarwar were also the part of the delegation.
The delegation visited the provincial minister’s office on his special invitation on Wednesday afternoon and apprised the minister of multiple issues faced by them, which include Model Town Courts, revamping of lawyers chambers, sitting arrangements for lawyers, revamping of district court of Lahore, establishment of hospital and Khidmat Centre, parking issue at Aiwan-e-Adal and fixing of two more lifts in LDA building in Aiwan-e-Adal.
The minister assured the delegation that all their issues would be resolved on urgent basis. On this occasion, the President Lahore Bar Association Nisar Akbar Bhatti praised the Punjab government for taking steps for the welfare of the lawyer community.
‘158 sports schemes in progress in Punjab’
Director General Sports and Youth Affairs, Punjab, Pervez Iqbal has said 158 sports schemes are in progress for development of sports across the province. He shared this information while presiding over a meeting regarding sports development schemes of the province at the National Hockey Stadium here on Wednesday.
The tenders of all sports development schemes were also reviewed in the meeting. Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, Tariq Khanzada, legal consultant Ikram Bari and other officials participated in the key meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Pervez Iqbal said 131 new sports development schemes were being launched this year. ‘A total of 58 old sports complexes will be restored and made functional for regular sports activities in different parts of the province,’ he added.
Pervez Iqbal further said that the construction of new sports complexes and grounds will help a lot in providing sufficient opportunities to ‘our talented youth to express their hidden sports potential’. ‘Effective steps are being taken for establishing best sports infrastructure across the Punjab,’ he explained.
