Interfaith harmony, security matters discussed

LAHORE:Under the leadership of National Peace Committee Chairman Kamran Parvez Chaudhry, a delegation of religious scholars visited the Central Police Office and met with Additional IG Operations Punjab, Shahzada Sultan.

The delegation included Mufti Aashiq Hussain, Hafiz Kazim Raza Naqvi, Professor Mahmood Ghaznavi, Qari Khalid Mahmood, Qasim Ali Qasmi, Hafiz Shoaib Rizvi, Chaudhry Sameer, Sayed Mudassar Hussain, Chaudhry Arshad Gujjar, and others.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on interfaith harmony and religious security matters. The scholars praised the Punjab Police for their efforts in maintaining peace in society. They also informed the Additional IG Operations Punjab about various issues and presented suggestions for promoting religious harmony.

Additional IG Operations Punjab, Shahzada Sultan, informed the delegation about the establishment, purposes, and performance of the Meesaq Centres. He mentioned that the Punjab Police is working diligently on intersect and interfaith harmony.

In light of the scholars' feedback, security measures will be improved to address issues effectively. Shahzada Sultan briefed that Punjab Police has established 48 Meesaq Centres across all districts of the province, which have provided services to thousands of minority citizens in the past eight months, offering legal and social support.

MoU signed on cops’ treatment

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Punjab Police and a Trust hospital. Under this MoU, police employees and their families will receive discounts ranging from 10% to 27% for medical treatment. IG Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, and the Trust's Vice President, Dr Shazia Asim Chaudhry, signed the MoU. Punjab Police spokesperson said that families of police martyrs would receive a 27% discount on the hospital's OPD services. Serving and retired officers and their families will benefit from a 25% discount on OPD services, while hospitalised police personnel and their families will avail up to 20% off on medical expenses. Discounts of 10% will apply for heart surgeries, and 20% for angiography and angioplasty. These benefits will also be extended to the families of the employees who pass away in service. Dr Usman Anwar said that police employees can avail these medical facilities in all four hospitals of the Trust in Lahore and Rawalpindi. He thanked the Trust hospital. Dr. Shazia Asim Chaudhry welcomed the collaboration with the Punjab Police and praised their services in maintaining law and order.
