ISLAMABAD: The gender gap in registered voters in Pakistan has narrowed significantly, now standing at less than 10 million, according to the latest data. This is a notable achievement, considering the country’s historical disparities in voter registration.
The gap between male and female voters today stands at 9,905,801 with total male voters recorded at 70,718,723 and females at 60,812,922. The overall voter database is now 131,531,645, whereas it was 130,444,891 on June 14, 2024. The percentage of male voters in the country is 53.77pc while that of female voters is 46.23pc, as reflected in the latest data, released by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Similarly, the overall increase in male voters in little over four months is 531,040 while in female voters is 555,714, showing 24,674 more voters in the female database of voters than males during this period. The number of voters in Balochistan is 5,494,710, the number of male voters is 3,080,135 and the number of female voters is 2,414,575. Similarly, the number of voters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 22,401,742, in which the number of male voters is 12,190,502 while the number of female voters is 10,211,240. The overall number of voters in Punjab is 74,891,495, whereas the number of male voters is 39,929,617 while the number of female voters is 34,961,878. Likewise, the number of voters in Sindh has increased to 27,589,227. The male voters stand at 14,913,438 while the number of female voters is 12,675,789. Similarly, according to the ECP data, the number of voters in Islamabad has increased to 1,154,471, in which the number of male voters is 605,031 while the number of female voters is 549,440.
