Disciplinary action against teachers initiated

Rawalpindi: On the instructions of Provincial Minister for Higher Education Department Rana Sikandar Hayat and Secretary Higher Education, Government of Punjab Dr. Farrukh Naveed, a zero-tolerance policy is being implemented.

In this regard, Chairman of Rawalpindi Board of Education, Muhammad Adnan Khan, has recommended an inquiry under the PEEDA Act 2006 against teachers who did not perform examination duties for the Intermediate Second Annual 2024 exams. This action was taken against those who refused examination duties assigned by the Rawalpindi Board of Education. According to clear instructions from the School Education Department/Higher Education Department, examination duty is considered a mandatory service.

Under the Intermediate Second Annual 2024 exams organised by the Rawalpindi Board, teachers who were appointed as supervisory staff and did not report to their designated examination centres by October 21, 2024, are now facing inquiries. On the recommendation of Chairman Muhammad Adnan Khan, the Commissioner of Rawalpindi has ordered chief executive officers of all districts to proceed against them under the PEEDA Act 2006.

In District Attock, 44 teachers, in Chakwal 16, in Jhelum 25, in Rawalpindi 110, and in Talagang 12 teachers are recommended for inquiry under the PEEDA Act. In total, action has been taken against 207 teachers across the division, and a report is to be submitted to the Commissioner’s Office, Rawalpindi, within a week.
