On the 27th day of the 38-day “World Culture Festival, organised by the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, the Russian company Di Lidia Kopina presented a physical theater performance titled “Road”.

The performance showcased the remarkable talents of theatre director Lidia, along with Maria, Veronica, and Tatiana, attracting a large audience. The captivating acting of the Russian artists won the hearts of Pakistani spectators. They utilised physical movements to express emotions, illustrating how we search for the place we belong to throughout our lives. Eventually, there comes a moment when all paths converge, a moment of awakening when we realise the need to return to ourselves. Through every step and every movement, we strive to unlock our potential, seeking the motion that defines our character.

In our quest for answers, we delve into our fears, desires, and attachments, trying to clearly see our true selves. Rather than simply seeking the right direction to leave, we want to focus on the traveller along the way, because the road unfolds as the traveller moves forward. The road is created by those who walk it, and as the path emerges beneath my feet, “Road” creates a space for the audience to explore.

Each image serves as a specific code for the human subconscious, but how they interpret that code and narrate the story depends on their own internal experiences. Ultimately, it is shown that there is no right or wrong path; however, there is hope in learning something new with every step taken along the way. The audience warmly applauded and appreciated the Russian artists’ performance, which was rich in physical movements.
