Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho on Tuesday chaired a meeting about security arrangements for the TEXPO and IDEAS exhibitions. TEXPO is starting on Wednesday (today), and IDEAS will be held next month, both at the Expo Centre.
Addl IG Odho received a detailed briefing on the security measures for TEXPO. He ordered ensuring that all traffic issues are addressed comprehensively and effectively, including the implementation of the security strategy and action plan adopted for TEXPO and IDEAS.
He also directed that strict monitoring and the deployment of plain-clothes personnel be ensured at all central gates, including those around the Expo Centre and its interiors. The security of foreign business and industrial representatives participating in the exhibition, as well as that of citizens, should be prioritised, he stressed.
Odho emphasised that security must be foolproof at the accommodation sites of foreign traders and guests, particularly those from China, as well as along the routes they would travel.
He also ordered random checks to facilitate intelligence-based operations at all levels, including checking, patrolling and picketing. The implementation of the traffic plan and raising public awareness regarding alternative traffic routes should also be ensured, he concluded.
