QUETTA: The Balochistan government has distributed compensation cheques worth Rs 1.5 million to the families of the 21 coal miners on Monday, who were martyred in October 11 armed attack at a coal mine field in Duki district.
The compensation cheques were handed over by the Deputy Commissioner Duki, Kaleemullah Nasar to the heirs of the firing victims in a ceremony held at his office at Duki. Balochistan had announced paying compensation to the families of the 21 martyred coal miners and six injured.
The injured were already paid compensation while Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti visited the Civil Hospital Quetta to inquire about the health of injured coal miners. The Chairman of District Council Duki, Haji Khairullah Nasar who was the owner of the mines, District President ANP, Haji Izzatullah Nasar, President of Labour Federation Sher Muhammad Kakar and families of the martyred coalminers attended the ceremony.
The Deputy Commissioner, Kaleemullah Kakar pledged that all possible financial assistance will be provided to the families of the martyred and injured miners. He also emphasised that all resources are being utilised to ensure the safety of workers.
