The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Mondays arrested three suspected militants associated with the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in connection with an attack on police officers.

According to CTD DSP Chaudhry Safdar, the terrorists were involved in an assault on policemen in the Sohrab Goth area on June 3, which resulted in the death of 36-year-old Constable Yasin, son of Jam Khan Jopang, and left another constable, Salman Abbas, son of Sajjad, injured.

Yasin, who hailed from District Khairpur, was stationed at the Police Headquarters in Saudabad and was on duty at the Sacchal Police Station, ensuring the security of a cattle market. The officers were targeted while they stopped on a service road to drink water when two armed suspects on a motorcycle opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The TTP claimed responsibility for the attack. DSP Safdar stated that, acting on a tip-off, the CTD conducted a raid that led to the arrest of the suspects, identified as Farhad, Haji Rehman, and Sagheer. The authorities recovered three pistols and organisational literature from their possession. These suspects were believed to be members of the TTP faction led by Maulana Bashir.
