Minister orders SBP to establish procedure to fill vacant positions
LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Chairman of Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar has directed the Sports Board to establish procedures for the recruitment of coaches and staff for vacant positions. Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar issued these directions while chairing the SBP general body meeting at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday.
The meeting saw key officials from various departments, including Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial, Vice Chairman SBP Awais Rauf, DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal, MPA Ajmal Khan Chandia, PITB DG Sajid Latif, and representatives from sports federations, such as Pakistan Tennis Federation President Aisam-ul-Haq and former Olympian Khawaja Junaid. During the session, DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal presented an in-depth briefing on the meeting’s agenda.
Several key decisions were made, including the approval of a new rent agreement with Ta'awan Company and the installation of a tube-well at the Punjab International Swimming Pool during the meeting. The general body meeting also approved the formulation of service rules for 134 permanent employees and a 75% increase in membership fees for the Punjab International Swimming Complex.
Addressing the attendees, the provincial minister for sports and youth affairs emphasised the importance of maintaining all sports complexes managed by the SBP at the highest standards. He reiterated the Punjab government's commitment as per vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to supporting sportspersons and promoting a sports culture among the youth. "We are utilising all resources for the development of sports in the province, and mega events are being organised to foster sports across Punjab," he stated.
Police clinch shooting ball title
Punjab Police team won the All-Pakistan Shooting Ball Tournament at Gaggu Mandi, Vehari on Monday. The 16 teams from across the country, including teams from Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Wapda, Army and ASF participated in the event. The police team showcased outstanding performance, defeating the Free Club Vehari in the final to secure the championship. MPA Sardar Khalid Nisar Dogar and Nawab Nasir Khan Sial, President Pakistan Shooting Ball Association presented awards to the players. IG Punjab congratulated the police team on winning the All Pakistan Shooting Ball Cup.
