Verifying CNICs of the entire population is going to be a messy affair – if the earlier process of SIM verification is any guide. It is going to be especially more difficult for senior citizens.
Moreover, in the majority of cases the lines of thumbs and fingers are not readable on biometric gadgets. The interior minister is requested to exempt senior citizens who hold CNICs with a lifetime date of expiry from the tedious procedure of CNIC verification.

As per the interior minister’s directive, all CNICs will have to be re-verified. People went through a tough time while verifying their SIMs. It took several visits before one could get one’s SIM verified because of the large queues. To avoid a waste of time, it is suggested that people be called to Nadra offices according to the last digit of their CNIC.
To check on which days and dates one should visit Nadra, a CNIC-holder could send an SMS to a given number. A message would give the days and dates one should visit a designated Nadra office. In the meantime, the government should ensure that all those Nadra personnel who committed wrongdoing are given exemplary punishment.
