Suspected robbers gunned down an employee of the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) on the Super Highway on Sunday after he did not comply with their demand to stop his car.

The incident occurred near Khadim Hussain Solangi Road on the Super Highway, within the jurisdiction of the SITE Super Highway Industrial Area police station.

The armed suspects opened fire when the vehicle was not stopped, resulting in the death of the Suparco officer and minor injuries to his brother, while two women in the car remained unhurt.

The casualties were taken to a private hospital. The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Sadiq, son of Abu Bakar. He was a resident of Meerut Society, a father of two.

Police said the victim was travelling with his family when two robbers on a motorbike attempted to stop their car, but when the vehicle was not stopped, the suspects opened fire, injuring Sadiq, who later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
