Finally, Pakistan cricket’s top bosses appear to have come out of their ‘fast blowing’ obsession and have included more slow or spin bowlers in the cricket team’s lineup. This approach delivered wonderful results in the second test against England, which Pakistan won by 152 runs. Spinners Sajid Khan’s seven wickets in England’s first innings and Noman Ali’s eight wickets in the final innings are what sealed the win for Pakistan. The country’s slow and relatively flat pitches are more suitable for spinners in the first place and the squad has sorely lacked an all-out spin attack. The same English players who played our fast bowlers so easily struggled and were visibly shaken by the sudden change of pace and game plan. This also proves that things can be switched in one’s favour provided there is a will and a resolve. Congratulations to Shan Masood for his test win as captain. Keep it up boys.
