BANNU: All set for the protest sit-in to be staged by the Qaumi Jirga of Bannu tribes for the restoration of lasting peace, ending incidents of target-killing and kidnapping for ransom in the district today.
The local residents, including elders and youths have prepared a stage at the main intersection of the city Praiti Gate for today’s historic peace protest sit-in.Announcements were also made in mosques and markets, calling on participants to remove obstacles on the roads of their areas by themselves and reach the venue to register their protest against the prevailing lawlessness.
Participants have been urged to attend the protest with a white peace flag, and political party flags have been discouraged.Several leaders, including Shoaib Khan Sadozai advocate, Nadeem Askar and others have already been in Bannu and announced full participation in today’s peace protest sit-in along with their party workers.
The traders’ representatives said that the peaceful protest was the legitimate right of the people and urged the government to restore peace, end target killings, recover missing persons, disband armed groups and reinstate the dismissed police officers.
They added that citizens who raise their voices for peace are being placed under 3 MPO and Schedule 4. The traders have appealed to the people to participate wholeheartedly in today’s peace protest sit-in across the district.
