PESHAWAR: Over 2,000 patients were examined at a free medical camp arranged at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar, on Sunday under the auspices of Pakistan Development Foundation (PDF).
The collaboration was struck with Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and XI Corps, said a communication.Ten specialists conducted free check-ups of poor people living in more than 15 villages in the vicinity of the university.
Diabetes and blood diagnostic tests of patients were conducted as well free of charge. Medicines were given to all patients free of cost.The wife of the corps commander of Peshawar visited the camp and raised the morale of the doctors who volunteered for the camp.
PDF Chairman Bilal Sethi, Patron-in-Chief Dr. Fatima Shaheen and SBBWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Safia Ahmed were present on the occasion.Bilal Sethi said in his address that his organization had been serving the poor and indigent for eight years.
He said the PDF encouraged the youth by keeping them engaged in positive activities, adding his organization would continue serving the underprivileged.SBBWU VC Dr Safia Ahmed said that by organizing this medical camp, her students had learned that serving the people was the main goal of our life.
