LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has become an advocate for female lawyers, directing establishment of bar rooms and daycare centres in three tehsils of Punjab.
Female lawyers had requested the creation of dedicated ladies bar rooms and daycare facilities in the high court to meet their needs. In response, the chief minister instructed the C&W Department to take immediate action. Construction work for these bar rooms has commenced in the remote areas of Attock, Bahawalnagar and Lodhran. The C&W Department has developed a standard design for the ladies bar rooms in all three tehsils.
The CM emphasized the importance of providing essential facilities for female lawyers in the workplace. She also mentioned that the possibility of constructing ladies bar rooms in other areas will be assessed in a phased approach.
Punjab Advocate General Khalid Ishaq said that ladies bar rooms will also be established in the bar associations of Jand, Fort Abbas and Duniya Pur.
In addition, daycare centres will be set up for the convenience of female lawyers and small kitchens will be included in the tehsil bar associations for their use.
