PESHAWAR: The by-election for 53 village and neighbourhood councils in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being held today (Sunday).
The officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commission handed over the election material to polling staff to hold the second by-elections in 53 village and neighbourhood councils of 17 districts.
The officials said that the by-election would be held on vacant seats reserved for general, women, laborers, farmers and youth in 17 districts including Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Khyber, Swabi, Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kolai-Palas, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Dir and Bajaur.
A total of 260 polling stations for male and female voters and 787 polling booths have been set up for 345,604 registered voters.
Security cameras have also been installed at polling stations to ensure free and fair conduct of the polling.
