‘Joint efforts vital to eradicate polio’
LAHORE : Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan attended the polio awareness seminar organised by Rotary Club of Lahore City at Governor House as a special guest.
The purpose of the seminar was to highlight the importance of eradicating polio from Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that eradicating polio is essential to give a healthy and safe future to the new generation.
He said that the government of Pakistan is determined to completely eradicate polio from the country. Governor Punjab appreciated the role of the Rotary Club of Lahore City in the welfare activities and awareness campaigns, especially the polio vaccination campaign successful.
He said that to eradicate polio, people need to highlight the importance of polio vaccination campaign among five-year-old children. Governor Punjab further said that prevention of polio and complete elimination of polio from the country is possible only with coordinated efforts.
Addressing the seminar, the speakers highlighted the government's measures to eradicate polio. Polio awareness walk was also held on this occasion. President of Rotary Club of Lahore City, Bilal Ahmed Awan, and Polio Plus Chair Maria Tauqeer Khan, people from various walks of life and Rotary Club of Lahore City attended the seminar.
Meanwhile, Farooq Baloch and Maj (retd) M Azhar, chairman and director of a private hospital foundation called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider here at Governor's House on Saturday.
0In the meeting, Farooq Baloch gave a briefing about the dialysis centre in Lahore and the hospital established in Sharqpur. He said that patients are being provided free dialysis services in the dialysis center of Lahore. Apart from this, the construction of the hospital building has been completed. Soon, we will start installing machinery.
The governor appreciated the humanitarian project and said that he himself will visit the hospital and inaugurate the project. He also assured all possible support for the Hum Hospital Foundation.
