KARACHI: Nestle Pakistan inaugurated the Nestle for Healthier Kids (N4HK) room at the Government Primary Boys School in Shigar on Thursday, marking the third such facility in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). This initiative aims to promote nutrition awareness across the region.
The N4HK programme is part of Nestle’s global campaign to ensure children understand the importance of nutrition as they grow. To date, more than 350 teachers have been trained across Hunza, Gilgit, Skardu, Shigar and Kharmang, with the programme targeting over 15,000 children.
Minister of Planning & Development for GB Raja Nasir Ali Khan inaugurated the school, saying, “It gives me immense pleasure to inaugurate this resource room today.” He highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting and expanding the nutrition awareness initiative throughout the province.
Speaking at the event, Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at Nestle Pakistan Sheikh Waqar Ahmad said, “The N4HK programme’s expansion across Pakistan reflects Nestle’s dedication to promoting healthy nutrition. We are proud to strengthen our partnership with the government of GB. So far, the N4HK program has reached 360,000 children, trained over 2,300 teachers, and established 17 N4HK rooms in collaboration with 11 public- and private-sector partners nationwide.”
The event was also attended by Wali Ullah Falahi, deputy commissioner of Shigar; members of civil society; and school staff.
The N4HK programme has a presence in Punjab, the federal capital, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and, most recently, GB. N4HK aligns with Nestle’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
