ISLAMABAD: The United States would continue collaborating with Pakistan under the bilateral “Green Alliance” framework to advance water management, clean energy, and climate-smart agriculture, said American Ambassador Donald Blome.
During a visit to South Waziristan on Friday, he said the US was proud of its $130 million collaboration with Pakistan on the Gomal Zam project. He said the dam provided enough electricity for 20,000 homes.
“The broader Gomal Zam project has also doubled agricultural production in the region by opening 191,000 acres for local farmers, controlling potential flood damage from impacting more than 30,000 households, and dramatically increasing Pakistan’s water storage capacity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Blome appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to improve macroeconomic stability and lauded the government for initiating challenging and bold reforms, particularly in taxation and energy sectors. During a meeting with Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb here, he said he was committed to enhancing US-Pakistan cooperation in technical and development initiatives and promoting high-quality US investment in the economic growth of Pakistan.
