LAHORE: The Punjab government, using modern information technology, has successfully digitised land records, making them secure and streamlining related services for the general public. Acknowledging the successful transition from manual land records to a computerised system, Gilgit-Baltistan has requested assistance from the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) in digitising its land records.
In response, PLRA experts have initiated the development of a land record computerisation project for Gilgit-Baltistan based on their prior experience. After preparing the initial documentation, both parties jointly formulated an implementation strategy for the project.
Recently, the Gilgit-Baltistan Cabinet approved the computerisation of (ETI) land records. To implement the project, a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) will be established under the leadership of the Gilgit-Baltistan Board of Revenue and overseen by the PLRA.
Initially, the land records in four districts of Gilgit Baltistan will be computerised and linked with Geographical Information System (GIS) maps. This initiative will establish a standardised, unified, and integrated land administration system. The reforms will not only make land records more accessible and secure for the general public but also provide data for government projects at various levels.
