KARACHI: Pakistan is set to announce its squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia next week, with sources suggesting that Mohammad Rizwan is a strong contender for the captaincy.

According to insiders, the selection committee is in favour of Rizwan leading the side, but the final decision will be taken by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, who will make the call after consulting with selectors and other key officials.

Fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain, who last featured in an ODI in 2023, is likely to make a return. Hasnain’s impressive performances in recent domestic competitions, including the Champions Cup and President’s Cup, have caught the attention of selectors.

Additionally, all-rounder Aamir Jamal and wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah are under consideration for selection, with their strong showings in domestic cricket putting them in the running for a spot in the squad. The series against Australia is scheduled to take place next month.
